On September 14, 2011 Portsmouth Fire Captains Todd Germain and Richard Murphy and Fire Lieutenants Peter Gordon and Brett Nelson were officially sworn in as shift officers with the department by Fire Chief Christopher LeClaire.
Captain Germain has been with the department since 1994 serving as both a firefighter and paramedic. He achieved the rank of Lieutenant in 2006. Captain Germain replaces retired Fire Captain Tim Collins as a shift commander at Station 1.
Captain Murphy has been with the department since 1987 serving as both a firefighter and emergency medical technician. He achieved the rank of Lieutenant in 2003. Captain Murphy replaces retired Fire Captain Bernard Marvin as a shift commander at Station |

Lieutenant Gordon has been with the department since 1998 serving as both a firefighter and paramedic. He now serves as the Station 3 officer on A Shift.
Lieutenant Nelson has also been with the department since 1998 serving as both a firefighter and paramedic. He now serves as the Station 3 officer on C Shift.
