  1. Check in at the Youth Services desk at 9:45.
  2. Put on a Reading Buddy name tag and a reading sticker.
  3. Practice reading the books you have chosen to use.
  4. When a child comes in to be a Buddy, introduce yourself and invite him/her to be your Reading Buddy.
  5. Give your buddy a sticker.
  6. If there aren’t enough Reading Buddies on hand, you may have 2 or more buddies at one time.
  7. If a Buddy wants to practice reading to you, arrange to work one-on-one so you can give your full attention.
  8. Plan to read for about a half-hour per Buddy. You may end up spending more or less time than that, depending on the needs of the child.
  9. Offer to help your Buddy sign up for the Summer Reading Program. Explain that the time you spend reading together can be traded for coupons for shopping in the Beehive Summer Reading Store.
  10. The Beehive will be open until noon on Reading Buddy days, to allow time for kids to shop after reading.
