• Arrive when you are scheduled. Be on time.
• Ask staff for help choosing books.
• Practice reading a book aloud several times before you read it to a buddy.
• Hold the book so your buddy can see the pictures and follow along while you read.
• If your buddy is learning to read, ask if he/she would like to practice reading to you.
• Take turns reading a page.
• Be patient.
• Listen without interrupting while your buddy reads to you.
• Assist only if he/she is really “stuck”
• If you have fun, your buddy will have fun, too!
