Holiday Parade 2012
The 2012 Portsmouth Illuminated Holiday Parade and Downtown Tree Lighting is Saturday, December 1, 2012.
This year’s theme is "A Sharing Season" celebrating the work of the numerous individuals and organizations that share their time and talents with the community. Parade participants and attendees are encouraged to bring food items for a Food Drive benefitting the Seacoast Family Food Pantry, Operation Blessing and the Salvation Army. For a list of suggested items, click here. Volunteers will push shopping carts along the parade route to collect your donations.
The Tree Lighting ceremony begins at 5 p.m. in Market Square with music from the Portsmouth Middle School Band, concluding at 5:30 p.m. with the official tree lighting. The Holiday Parade begins at 6 p.m. from Plaza 800 and travels a route through downtown to the South Mill Pond parking lot. To see the route, click here.
Only vendors holding a City of Portsmouth license will be allowed, and each individual vendor must display his or her own license.

Nov. 14: Absolute deadline for all floats on flatbeds or towed trailers and someone from your group must attend the MANDATORY float Safety Meeting at the Police Station at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 15. Anyone carrying people outside the vehicle cab also must attend the meeting.

Nov. 19: Deadline for all other entries (walking units, vehicles without trailers, bicycle units, bands, etc.)
Nov. 20: Applications received on this date through Nov. 26 must be accompanied by a $25 late fee.
Nov. 27: PARADE IS CLOSED TO ALL APPLICATIONS. NO EXCEPTIONS.
