WHAT’S HAPPENING WITH PARKING?
The Portsmouth Middle School Joint Building Committee is committed to ensuring the
safety of students, staff, visitors and local residents with regard to parking and traffic during the
renovation and expansion of the Portsmouth Middle School and afterward.
Construction work may alter access to parking at various times during the building
schedule, but every attempt will be made to provide adequate parking at all times.
Once the project is complete, parking will be provided for staff at a new onsite
parking lot and also in permitted spaces near the middle school. The spaces will be available for general public use after school hours for those visiting the Library, recreation fields or downtown. The existing municipal lot will be resurfaced for Library parking and short term parking for visitors to both the Library and the Middle School.
The new main entrance to the school will be located at the interface of the existing building and the addition fronting Parrott Avenue. School bus loading and unloading will be along the onsite service driveway circling the school and exiting the property on Rogers Street. Drop off from private vehicles will be along the Parrott Avenue curbside.
