Reference: DWI Saturation Patrols

The Portsmouth Police Department’s Drug Recognition Expert (DRE) Unit conducted targeted patrols on Friday night and Saturday night in the City of Portsmouth looking for impaired drivers. Sixty-four vehicles were stopped between the two nights, and seven drivers were arrested as well as one passenger, who was charged with a drug crime.

Members of the PPD DRE Unit are, Sgt. Corey MacDonald, Ofc. Aaron Stacy, Ofc. Aaron Goodwin, Ofc. Rochelle Jones, Ofc. Duane Jacques, Ofc. Nikki Mercer, and Ofc. Timothy Black. The officers receive extensive training in apprehending drivers under the influence of alcohol or drugs. The Portsmouth Police will continue their intensive efforts to combat drunk driving within the City throughout the summer.
