The Portsmouth Police and Fire Departments will hold a brief memorial ceremony on this, the 8th anniversary of the terrorist attacks on the United States in New York City and Washington DC.
At 9:08 a.m., the time that the first plane hit the World Trade Center, Mayor Tom Ferrini, Fire Chief Chris LeClaire, Deputy Police Chief Stephen DuBois, City Manager John Bohenko, Police and Fire Chaplain Father Angelo Pappas and the Portsmouth Police Honor Guard will hold a memorial observance at the Central Flag Pole outside of city hall. All city employees, residents and visitors are welcome to attend and take a moment to remember the loss and the heroism that occurred on September 11, 2001.
