The Portsmouth Police Department wants everybody to have a fun and safe Halloween.
In Portsmouth, Trick or Treating will take place between 5:30 PM and 8:00 PM on Friday night, October 30th.
The following tips will help you have a safe Halloween season:
For Trick or Treaters-
Wear a costume that is easy to walk in and allows other people, especially motorists, to see you.
Carry a flashlight and keep it turned on while you are walking.
Don’t trick or treat alone. Go with a group of friends or your parents.
Let your parents know what route you will be taking and what time you will be home.
Only go to homes that are well lit.
Only go to the homes or the apartments of people you know.
Cross only at cross walks or at the corners. Don’t walk between parked cars.
For Parents-
Keep your house well lit.
Confine or prepare your pets for a night of frightful sights and sounds.
Suspicious or tampered candy should be reported to the Portsmouth Police Department.
For Drivers-
If you must drive, please slow down and be cautious of children in the road.
Adult party goers should use a designated driver.
