Reference: Portsmouth Police Explorers excel at Awards Banquet
On 11/07/2009 the Portsmouth Police Explorers Post 2609 attended the 2009 New Hampshire Daniel Webster Council Awards Banquet. This is a yearly awards dinner that takes place at the New Hampsire Police Academy in Concord. This dinner brings together the Explorer Posts from across the State of New Hampshire. All Active Posts in the State are eligible for the awards. This year the Portsmouth Explorer Post received the 2009 Community Service Post of the Year. This is the second year in a row that Portsmouth has received this award. This year the Post had over 1500 hours of community service to the city of Portsmouth.
Captain Kyle Brake of the Portsmouth Post received the Learning for Life Leadership Award. Kyle also receive the Silver "E" Award. This is the highest award that an individual explorer cadet can receive in the State.
Cadet Brian Jowett and Cadet Micah Beringer received the Career Achievement Award in Law Enforcement.
Advisor - Detective Robert Munson received the Golden "E" Award. This is the highest award that an advisor can receive in the State.
Former Chief Mike Magnant received the William Spurgess Award for his years of Service to Exploring.
Post 2609 had a successful year and took home half of the awards given out.
