Reference: Arrest of Theft Suspect
Date of Release: April 9, 2005
On April 8, 2005 at approximately 10:00 PM an employee of KIM LAI restaurant reported that an Asian male had just stolen a large amount of cash from the establishment. The suspect grabbed the money from the register and ran out the door. One of the employees ran after him. The suspect was last seen heading toward the wooded area behind the restaurant.
Several Portsmouth Police officers responded as well as two Portsmouth K-9 units. A perimeter was set up in the area within minutes. The quick response of the officers forced the suspect back out of the woods near the crime scene. A witness recognized the suspect and pointed him out to officers as he tried to walk away. After a brief struggle Portsmouth Police arrested:
ZENGYUAN ZOU

Somerville Mass
DOB 11/11/73
ZOU was charged with Felony Theft, Resisting Arrest and Receiving Stolen Property. The money believed to have been taken was recovered by arresting officers. He is currently being held in Rockingham County Jail on $10,000 cash bail. He will appear in Portsmouth District Court on Monday April 11, 2005.
