Reference: Death investigation, 132 Middle Street
Date of Release: July 2, 2006
The Portsmouth Police, in conjunction with the Portsmouth Fire Department and the State Fire Marshals Office, are investigating a fire that occurred at 132 Middle Street in the early morning hours of July 2nd.
At approximately 2:30 am the Portsmouth Fire Department received a call for a fire at 132 Middle St. Upon their initial response, the Portsmouth Fire Department rescued a male subject from the second floor. The fire was brought under control at approximately 3:45 am. A subsequent search of the building revealed the deceased body of an adult male. The NH Medical Examiners Office has scheduled an autopsy for the morning of July 3rd to determine the cause and manner of death.
