Reference: July 28th, 2006 - Graffiti arrest

On Friday, July 28th, 2006 at approximately 4:45 PM, the following individual turned himself in to the Portsmouth Police Department on an outstanding arrest warrant:

Date of birth 02/13/83
9 Chabot Street
Somersworth, NH

Mr. Hornberger was arrested for one count of Criminal Mischief, as a result of an investigation by the Bureau of Investigative Services. This incident occurred in Portsmouth on Wednesday, July 26th, when an astute citizen witnessed graffiti being drawn in the area of Borthwick Avenue and the Route 1 By-Pass. The citizen copied down the license plate of the suspectís vehicle, and then contacted the Portsmouth Police Department. Subsequent investigation by investigators led to the identification of Mr. Hornberger as the suspect.

With the assistance of the Somersworth Police Department, detectives from the Bureau of Investigative Services executed a search warrant at Mr. Hornberger's residence. Evidence linked to the Portsmouth graffiti as well as evidence that may be linked to other crimes was seized. At this time, Somersworth and Hampton Police Departments have open investigations into additional acts of Criminal Mischief that may have been committed by Mr. Hornberger. Additionally, the Portsmouth Police Department is actively investigating other acts of Criminal Mischief in the downtown that may also have been committed by Mr. Hornberger. These cases all remain under investigation and more charges may be pending.

The Portsmouth Police Department is still asking for the publicís assistance in many of the recent crimes of Criminal Mischief in the city, and we greatly appreciate the good Samaritan who helped in this case.
