Reference: BB gun arrest

Date of Release: September 12th, 2006

On Monday, September 11th, 2006 at 3:00 PM, the following individual turned himself in to the Portsmouth Police Department:

Joshua Pearcy
Date of birth 09/12/86
760 Clarks Woods Road
Lyman, Maine

Mr. Pearcy was arrested as a result of an arrest warrant for the following charges:

3 counts of Reckless Conduct (Felonies) 7 counts of Criminal Mischief (Misdemeanors).

These charges are a result of an investigation by the Portsmouth Police Department in conjunction with the Maine State Police and York County Sheriff’s Department that began last month. Mr. Pearcy was identified and arrested by Maine authorities for a BB gun shooting spree that covered most of York County, Maine. Also arrested was Enrique M. Arias, date of birth 01/16/88 of 49 Lakefield Drive, North Waterboro, Maine.

In addition to the Maine charges, both Mr. Pearcy and Mr. Arias are believed to be responsible for BB gun shootings that occurred in Portsmouth and the surrounding seacoast area. These shootings resulted in personal injury to citizens as well as thousands of dollars worth of damage to vehicles and buildings. Both men face similar charges from other jurisdictions.

Mr. Pearcy was arrested on the above Portsmouth charges and was processed at the Portsmouth Police Department and released on $5,000 personal recognizance bail for an October 30th Portsmouth District Court arraignment date. There is an active arrest warrant for the same criminal charges for Mr. Arias, however, he remains held at the York County Jail on cash bail.

Anyone with any further information about this case is asked to call Detective Robert Munson at 436-2511, or they can remain anonymous by calling Crime Stoppers at 431-1199 or 207-439-1199.
