Effective from 2:00pm to 4:00pm on Sunday, September 23, 2007, Police Chief Michael J. Magnant will be invoking his emergency powers, prohibiting vehicular travel on certain streets in the City due to the 1st Annual Labor/Portsmouth Peace Treaty Parade.
The Parade Route will begin at 2:00pm on Parrott Ave turning left onto Pleasant Street, right onto State Street, left thru the Wright Ave Parking Lot, left onto Daniel Street, into Market Square, left onto Fleet Street, left onto State Street, right onto Pleasant Street, ending back at Parrott Ave.
This parade is expected to cause some traffic delays in the downtown area and motorists are encouraged to seek alternate routes during the parade times. There will be short roving street closures along the parade route as it moves through downtown.
