Stolen Property Arrest

On September 15, 2005, Patrol Officers from the Portsmouth, New Hampshire Police Department responded to a call for service regarding a suspicious person in the area of Broad Street.

As a result of this call for service a person identified as:

Leon Bishop
1262 Islington Street
Portsmouth, New Hampshire
DOB: June 29, 1987

Was taken into custody after Officers located several items of property, which had been stolen from vehicles parked in the immediate area. At the time Bishop was released on personal recognizance bail.

While conducting a further investigation into the activities of Leon Bishop, Detectives from the Bureau of Investigations of the Portsmouth, New Hampshire Police Department were able to locate additional property, which had been sold by Mr. Bishop. This property had been reported as stolen during two residential home burglaries in the Town of Rye, New Hampshire.

On September 22, 2005, the Portsmouth, New Hampshire Police Department along with the Rye, New Hampshire Police Department arrested:
Leon Bishop
1262 Islington Street
Portsmouth, New Hampshire
DOB : June 29, 1987

For two counts of Burglary and one count of Receiving Stolen Property each offense constituting a felony offense.
Bishop was arrested at his residence on Islington Street without incident and was arraigned today in the Portsmouth District Court.

Judge Gardner presided over this arraignment and set cash bail of $2,500.00 and $5,000.00 personal recognizance for the offense of receiving stolen property. A total cash bail of $10,000.00 was set for the two burglary offenses. Bishop left the court in the custody of the Rye Police Department.

A probable cause hearing will take place at the Portsmouth District Court on October 4, 2005 at 9:00 AM.
