Reference: Motor Vehicle vs. Pedestrian Accident
Date of Release: September 24th , 2005
On September 24th, 2005 at 2:08pm, the Portsmouth Police Department, along with the Portsmouth Fire Department, responded to the area of Bow St. and Market St. for a report of a collision between a pick up truck and an elderly pedestrian.
Evan Thompson, 51 of York Maine, was turning left on to Bow St. from Market St. in his 2004 Dodge 1500 pick-up when the collision with the pedestrian occurred. The female elderly pedestrian suffered a serious head injury causing her to be transported to the Portsmouth Regional Hospital where she remains in serious condition. Drugs, alcohol and speed do not appear to be factors in this accident at this time.
Due to the possibility of a medical condition being a contributing factor to this collision, the name of the pedestrianis being withheld for privacy purposes.
