CITYWIDE PROJECTS 2009

Project # 9 State Street Reconstruction

Project Update – November 16, 2009

Water line work will continue this week on State Street working westerly toward Atkinson Street and Chapel Street.   Water line work at the Pleasant Street area will not proceed as planned.  The 2nd pipe crew will begin work this week assisting the other crew at the eastern end of the project, and will be completing service connection following completion of the main from Marcy Street to Chapel Street.  Installation of new services will likely commence by next week.  Minor service disruptions will be required.  The Contractor will coordinate with property owners and businesses for any special requirements.

Following installation and testing of the water main, work on the sewer improvements will commence at the Marcy Street intersection and will work westerly toward the Dutton Ave intersection.  The installation of drainage lines and storm water treatment devices will commence after the sewer work is completed in this area.

During the completion of the water, sewer and drainage work in the Marcy Street area, traffic from Scott Ave and Marcy Street may be temporarily detoured from the intersection during the work, as required.  Appropriate traffic signage will be displayed for any detours required.  Through traffic from State Street to and including the intersection with Marcy Street is planned to be maintained, where practical.

The attached plan depicts the work zones for the week of November 16th.
