Upgrades made to Portsmouth’s Click N’ Fix mobile app

Portsmouth’s community reporting and engagement mobile iOS app – also known as Portsmouth Click N’ Fix – has received a complete redesign and feature upgrade.

The Click N' Fix application enables residents to request public works maintenance services (non-emergency service issues only). In addition to reporting community issues, residents can view and comment on problems submitted by others. Citizens can even create their own “watch areas” to receive notifications about all issues reported in their neighborhood, enabling them to follow the progress of all service requests – not just the ones they report.

Fresh design, smarter architecture, and added features create even more constructive engagement between citizens and their local government. The upgraded app makes reporting even faster and easier, improving accuracy and efficiency with features such as the ability to get your location from your photos, identify potential duplicate issues while reporting, and improved mapping and geolocating to help us build stronger communities and a more efficient government.

Since Portsmouth launched this service in 2015, the City has received 4148 requests and has currently resolved 4040 of them. According to Public Works Director Peter Rice, this reporting tool has allowed for better communication and allocation of resources. “This tool has greatly improved the collection of data and service requests within our work order system, as well as assisted with our prioritization process and measuring our efficiency in meeting public needs. We have been very pleased to see how many residents continue to use this tool and communicate with us.”

This City is excited to announce this new update as it will continue to improve and enhance our community’s experience in requesting non-emergency services. The new Click N’ Fix iOS app offers these updated features:

  • Snap a photo and report later. The app leverages location data stored in your photos allowing you to start a report without having to be at the location or remember the address of the issue.
  • Discover and follow existing issues as you report new ones. In order to decrease multiple disparate threads on a single issue, the new reporting flow identifies potential duplicate issues and encourages you to follow them. Faster for the citizen, less time responding for the official.
  • Hunt down existing issues faster in the map and list view. With subtle algorithmic tweets, the mobile app surfaces the most recently reported issues where you are searching.
  • A better look and feel for our City. The new design allows us to place additional city services and information front and center in a more modern and beautiful format.
  • And much more! Including easier following of issues, quicker selecting of request types, and faster ways to share the app and the issues you care about with your neighbors.
