Swim Lessons at Peirce Island Pool
The Portsmouth Recreation Dept. will hold registration for Session Two of summer swim lessons beginning Tuesday afternoon July 1st at the Peirce Island Outdoor Pool. Registration will be at the staff/bathhouse entrance next to the playground. Sign-ups on this first day will be from 5:30 PM - 7:30 PM, then continue daily during outdoor pool hours until all classes are filled. Lessons run 3 days a week for 4 weeks beginning July 21st and ending August 15th. Swim lessons are FREE for Portsmouth residents. Call the pool or see the Rec. Dept. brochure for proof-of-residency policy. Non-residents may sign up beginning Monday July 7th at 9:00 am for a cost of $60. All lessons are taught by certified Red Cross instructors. Peirce Island Pool
The Peirce Island Pool is the perfect place to spend a hot, lazy summer afternoon. It has been keeping children and adults cool since 1945
and was refurbished in 2003 with a new deck, fence, and play area. With a length of 100 yards, a width of 33 yards and a gently sloping
depth from 14 inches to six feet it provides plenty of fun space for every age and ability. The pool opens June 25th and operates 7 days/week
for exactly 9 weeks. Weekday mornings at the pool are reserved for children's swimming lessons. Afternoon, weekend and evening hours are
for everyone and include 6 lap lanes at the deep end for serious swimmers. Our adult lap swims and general (all age) swims offer the best
recreation value in the seacoast.
