2009-2010 Notice of Vacancy
Position:	Special Education Teacher of the Emotionally Handicapped, KIDS Program, Portsmouth Middle School
Requirements:	New Hampshire Certification or eligible for certification;Emotional Handicap certified educator preferred or willing to pursue certification. Must meet Highly Qualified Teacher requirements. Familiar with Portsmouth School District and district wide initiatives of personalized education and a focus on literacy across the content areas all within a framework of curriculum, instruction, assessment, professional development and community. Experience teaching emotionally handicapped adolescents in a public school setting preferred. Knowledge of students with learning disabilities and spectrum disorders preferred. Experience with conducting evaluations and functional behavioral assessments. Strong case management experience. Strong communication skills needed.
Responsibilities:	Provide special education support/instruction in reading and math, as needed. Case management; testing and evaluations.  Develop and carry out Individual Education Plans and all other IDEA requirements. Collaboration with classroom teachers and other specialists. Supervision of paraprofessionals in the KIDS program or providing inclusionary supports.
Salary:	Per Negotiated Contract
