Exemption for the Blind

Every inhabitant owning residential real estate, who is legally blind, as determined by the administrator of blind services of the vocational rehabilitation division of the education department may apply for a blind exemption. $25,000 is subtracted from the assessed valuation.
A copy of the certification from blind services of the Vocational Rehabilitation Division of the Education Department must be provided along with a Permanent Application for Property Tax Credits/Exemptions (Form PA-29) which is available in the Assessor’s Office.
FILING DEADLINE
The filing deadline is by April 15th preceding the setting of the tax rate. Example: If you are applying for an exemption off your 2024 property taxes, which are due no earlier than December 1, 2024 then you have until April 15, 2025 to file this form.
