McIntyre Project Committee Seeks Public Input on Designs

March 11, 2021

The McIntyre Subcommittee with assistance from Boston-based urban design firm Principle Group, invite residents to participate in a second round of design review to deliberate on the opportunity for new public space to enjoy at McIntyre. The subcommittee hosted an electronic  roundtable discussion on Thursday, March 18. To view the Zoom meeting, click here.

Now the subcommittee is asking the public to participate in an online survey (click here). The survey will be available through 5 pm on Wednesday, March 31.

In January, the McIntyre Committee enlisted the assistance of Portsmouth Listens to conduct a series of study circles to determine the vision for public space. That process involved 250 residents who met in two, 2-hour sessions and provided the basis for the “Values to Vision to Sketches” presentations from their 22 sub-groups on January 20. Those presentations and the ensuing discussion informed the Design Brief compiled by Principle Group and discussed in another public input session with local architects and designers on February 11. All of the Study Circle materials, their presentations and the Design Brief can be found on the City website.

Thanks to the interactive tool Miro, the design discussion moved online, allowing further public input on the eight designs presented in further “Values to Vision to Sketches” collaboration. Principle Group has now honed the design discussion to four options for public discussion in the survey, open through March 31.
