Portsmouth NH 400 Fire Department Open House

To celebrate the Portsmouth NH 400 in 2023, the Portsmouth Fire Department, Federal Fire Society and Mechanic Fire Society will host an Open House at the Central Fire Station on Court Street. They plan to display the fully restored 1870 Kearsarge steam powered fire engine, the 1938 Seagray, engine, historic photos and memorabilia of fire fighting in Portsmouth. Program includes talks on firefighting history and the role of early fire societies in the city, demonstrations of fire bucket making and “meet a fire fighter” opportunities for children. The event is planned for three dates.
