Public Meeting on Maplewood Avenue Downtown Complete Streets Project Wednesday, January 24th
January 24, 2018
The City of Portsmouth is seeking public input on proposed design alternatives for the Maplewood Avenue Downtown Complete Streets Project. The scope of this project is to develop a “complete street” design for Maplewood Avenue between Congress Street and Raynes Avenue. This project is identified as a high priority project in the City’s 2014 Bicycle and Pedestrian Plan and the goals are to enhance the comfort, appeal and safety for all travelers along this approximately ½ mile corridor. The project will incorporate sidewalk widening, on-street parking, street trees and street lighting and other streetscape improvements. In addition, it will include bike amenities, crosswalk improvements, travel lane reductions, signal upgrades and other traffic calming measures as well as underground utility work.
A public meeting to review proposed alternatives is scheduled for Wednesday, January 24, 2018 at 7:00 p.m. in the Portsmouth Public Library's Levenson Room.
