City of Portsmouth Planning Department to Host Public Meeting on Proposed Zoning Revisions for Foundry Place and Hanover Street Neighborhood
On Thursday March 5th at 7pm in City Council Chambers at City Hall, the City of Portsmouth Planning Department will hold a public meeting for neighborhood residents and property owners to discuss recently proposed zoning amendments that would impact properties along Foundry Place and Hanover Street. The amendments currently being considered were presented at a Planning Board public hearing on January 23rd and include:
- Down-zoning the property fronting on Hanover Street from Character District 5 to Character District 4-L1 and the properties on the southeast side of Foundry Place from Character District 5 to Character District 4;
- Establishing a new building height maximum for Foundry Place of 3 stories (40’) and reducing the maximum building height along Hill Street from 4 stories (50’) to 3 stories (40’); and
- Requiring that any additional height and building coverage allowed in the Incentive Overlay Districts be subject to a conditional use permit by the Planning Board.
The primary purpose of this meeting is to review the proposed amendments and to receive input from the public. After the public meeting, the Planning Board will schedule a work session at a future date to discuss further changes. For more information about the proposed amendments go to the Planning Department web page or contact the Department at (603) 610-7216.
