Islington Street Corridor Construction Resumes April 6

April 3, 2020

Construction on the Islington Street Corridor Reconstruction Project will resume the week of Monday, April 6, 2020. This phase involves the section of Islington Street between Bartlett Street and Spinney Road with work focusing on different zones on a day-to-day basis. This phase is expected to be completed by this fall. Several projects are able to proceed with the benefits of reduced impact to residents due to the reduced traffic resulting from the Stay-At-Home closure of downtown businesses.

Once work has progressed west of Aldrich Road, a new traffic detour will be implemented. Until then, drivers will experience two-way alternating traffic and minor delays. Flaggers and/or police details will direct traffic as necessary.

The Islington Street Corridor Reconstruction Project construction began in May of 2019 and was suspended for the winter last December. A public pre-construction meeting was planned but has been postponed indefinitely due to the COVID-19 emergency.
