Gordon Reynolds: Computer Programming Instructor

Gordon Reynolds began his Computer Science teaching career in Pittsfield MA. at Pittsfield High School in 2014.  In 2017 Gordon became the Computer Science teacher at Portsmouth High School after he and his wife moved to the Portsmouth area.  Gordon has a Bachelor of Science degree in IT, and a webmaster’s certificate, from the University of Cincinnati.  He also has a Bachelor of Arts degree in History from the University of New Hampshire.  Gordon began his computer career in the late nineties as a Web Programmer during the early boom of the web.  After working for a few different programming companies for the first seven years of his career, Gordon started his own Web Development business in 2007.  In 2014 Gordon made the switch to teaching when a position opened up at Pittsfield High School.  Gordon enjoys teaching and sharing his passion for computer science with students and is looking forward to continuing to build the Computer Science Program at PHS.

When Gordon isn't at PHS he enjoys kayaking, biking, walking, stretching, exercising, and exploring the local area.  In the dead of winter, he likes to stare out the window and imagine that he is outside kayaking or biking, as opposed to shoveling the driveway.  If he had a superpower it would be to have Wolverine's instant healing so he wouldn't have to feel aches and pains or get any older.  If he could have a cup of coffee with anyone it would be his father who passed in 1987, they'd have a lot to talk about.  His advice to students would be that you should strive to constantly improve yourself mentally and physically.

If you ask him how his program prepares students he would ask you to name a company that doesn't have a website and doesn't use computers.  After an awkward silence, he would tell you that is the reason you should take his classes.  However, the reality is, if you enjoy programming you should take his classes because programming is a life skill in this digital age.
