Public input meeting for Maplewood Ave Downtown Complete Street Project Monday, November 13th
November 13, 2017
A public input meeting for the Maplewood Avenue Downtown Complete Street Project will be held on Monday, November 13th at 7 p.m. in the School Board Conference Room at City Hall.
The scope of this project is to develop a “complete street” design for Maplewood Avenue between Congress Street and Raynes Avenue. This project is identified as a high priority project in the City’s 2014 Bicycle and Pedestrian Plan and the goals are to enhance the comfort, appeal, and safety for all travelers along this approximately half mile corridor. The project will incorporate sidewalk widening; on-street parking; street trees and street lighting and other streetscape improvements; the addition of bike amenities; crosswalk improvement; travel lane reductions; signal upgrades and other traffic calming measures; and related underground utility work.
The City has contracted with a consultant team led by Sebago Technics for the design phase of this project. This is the first of two public meetings planned for this phase. The purpose of this first public meeting is to discuss project goals and gather initial input from residents, business owners and other stakeholders.
