Business sponsorships allow for three stations to be added to Zagster bike fleet this spring
April 8, 2019
Portsmouth residents, employees and visitors will now be able to enjoy the use of ten Zagster bike share stations throughout the City thanks to the sponsorships offered by several local businesses.
In 2018, seven stations were made available at Portwalk Place (sponsored by the owners of Portwalk Place), the Memorial Bridge Parking Lot, Bridge Street Parking Lot, City Hall Parking Lot, corner of Summer Street and State Street, on Parrott Avenue at the intersection with Junkins Avenue, and in Market Square behind the North Church.
Last month, the City announced a new sponsored station by The Kane Company that will be on Commerce Way, and are now pleased to welcome two more stations thanks to sponsorships from Chinburg Properties, and Mark A. McNabb and Peter R. Worrell.
Chinburg’s station will be on Brewery Lane, offering a convenient extension of bike availability to West End businesses and residents. McNabb and Worrell will be sponsoring the Market Square station, enabling the City to place station at the Foundry Place Garage for no additional cost.
“We’re thrilled to welcome these new stations,” said Planning Director Juliet Walker. “These latest sponsorships by Chinburg and McNabb and Worrell allow for important additions to the West and North Ends and will further encourage use, building upon the number of trips logged (1,599) in 2018; these trips also helped offset about 2,532 pounds* of CO2 emissions last year. As we celebrate Earth Day this month, I hope we can continue to promote biking as an alternative mode of transportation and further reduce our emissions.”
The City’s Zagster stations are expected to be installed by May 1st. For more information on Zagster and bike share memberships, please visit https://bike.zagster.com/portsmouthnh/. For more information on various sponsorship opportunities, please visit https://www.zagster.com/sponsors.
