Dog License

2024 Dog Licenses are now available. You may visit the City Clerk's Office during regular office hours, mail in a check or money order, or pay on-line.

As required by State law, all dogs residing in the City of Portsmouth must be licensed. You will receive a license certificate and a small numbered tag to be placed on the dog collar for assistance in the case your dog is lost.

In the State of New Hampshire, dog licenses extend from April to April.

To obtain a NEW dog license:

  • Print the application to complete.
  • Please make sure all information is complete and legible.
  • Enclose a check or money order made payable to the City of Portsmouth.
  • Include a self-addressed stamped envelope for the return of the certificate and tag.
