Portsmouth’s Finance Department publishes its Popular and Comprehensive Annual Financial Reports for Fiscal Year 2018
January 18, 2019
The Portsmouth community can now access the Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR) and the Popular Annual Financial Report (PAFR) for Fiscal Year (FY) 2018 on the Finance Department’s website. The City’s CAFR and PAFR are prepared following the end of each fiscal year under the guidance of Finance Director Judie Belanger.
The CAFR is an instrument of full financial disclosure and lends insight into the financial health of the City, while the PAFR is a personal, summarized report geared towards citizens to help them better understand the CAFR, the City’s audited financial statements. Last year, the City’s FY17 PAFR received an Award for Outstanding Achievement in Popular Annual Financial Reporting from the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA); this is the highest form of recognition in governmental accounting and financial reporting, and its attainment represents a significant accomplishment by a government and its management.
The Finance Department aims to build off of such recognitions and continuously improve its reporting for easier public consumption. For example, this year citizens can access the PAFR and enjoy new interactive features that will lead them to added information on the City’s website.
