Homebound Delivery
We are pleased to now offer a Homebound Delivery Service to library cardholders!
Our mission is to make the Portsmouth Public Library resources available to homebound patrons through this service.
Who is Eligible for Homebound Delivery?
“Homebound” is defined as being generally confined to the residence either temporarily, due to illness or accident, or permanently, due to age, disability, or other mobility problems.
This service is limited to residents of the City of Portsmouth who have a Portsmouth Public Library card. It is not available to nonresident cardholders at this time.
Requesting Service
Upon requesting service, patrons must complete a Homebound Delivery Registration Form. You may:
- Register online for Homebound Delivery.
- Print out the Homebound Delivery Form and fill it it out at home.
- Call us at 603-766-1702 to complete over the phone.
Need assistance? Give us a call and we'll assist you in completing the form. You may sign the form at the time of first delivery.
Note that the library may need to pause new registrations in order to adjust schedule or staffing. Regular service to enrolled patrons will continue during this time. Anyone interested in enrolling will be added to a waiting list. If new registrations are paused, this site will be updated with that information.
Delivery
Portsmouth Public Library will deliver every three weeks on a Thursday afternoon. You will receive materials at this time unless you call or email to suspend the service.
All items will be loaned for a period of three weeks. To renew items, you may speak to delivery staff, contact the library by phone or email, or use your online account.
You must be present to receive your materials at time of delivery. Let us know if you’d like to designate someone else to receive your materials.
You will not receive the usual email notifications from the library while receiving Homebound Delivery. However, feel free to email or call us if you have questions or request between visits! All your items will check out for three weeks, and any items you’d like to renew will be due at the time of your next visit.
Deliveries will not occur on holidays, or during inclement weather, as determined by the Library Director and/or Assistant Director. In the event of inclement weather, delivery will be rescheduled if possible, and all items renewed where appropriate.
