Seacoast Digital Fast, May 3 - 5

During the weekend of May 3 – 5, 2019, members of the Seacoast community are embarking on a 48-hour Digital Fast. That means no phones, no tablets, no computers, no Internet, no video games, and no TV for an entire weekend. The Seacoast Digital Fast begins Friday May 3 at 5:30 PM, and ends on Sunday May 5 at 5:30 PM. Are you up for the challenge? Tell everyone who your books belong to with your very own personalized bookplate! For readers of all ages.
Digital Fast Bingo
Pick up your bingo card at our Youth Services desk. Any bingo card with at least one completed row can be exchanged for a small prize at the Youth Services desk any time Saturday May 4 – Friday May 10. Open to kids and adults alike!

Join us for lawn games, outdoor fun and a proclamation from City Councilor Nancy Pearson! Rain Location: Connie Bean Gym
Saturday May 4
Learn Mah Jongg | 10 AM – 12 PM
Hilton Garden Room
Every Saturday, visit the library to learn Mah Jongg. Open to all ages.
Drop In Chess | 10 AM – 12 PM
Mary Ann List Lobby
Two Saturdays a month, visit the library to learn or play chess, with coaches/players from PHS. Open to all ages.
Family Story Time | 10 AM – 11 AM

Our Saturday Family Story Time is open to all ages. Join us for a mix of stories, music, movement, and language play and sometimes handicrafts.
Reading Dog | 11 AM – 12 PM

Come read to a friendly golden retriever. Either Chloe or Desey will be here, eager to listen while you read! Open to kids and families.
Meditation | 1 – 2 PM

STAR WARS DAY | 1 – 3:30 PM
Levenson Community Room
Build Your Own Spacecraft: Create your own space ship or pod racer using recycled materials. This program is drop in from 1 – 3 PM, with a race at 3 PM.
Jedi Mind Training: Learn the way of the Force any time between 2 and 3 PM in this special meditation session with Jedi teacher Candradasa!
Drop In Craft: Stop by youth services any time this weekend to make a fun Star Wars craft.
Digital Fast Book Discussion | 3 – 4 PM

In a special book discussion led by Portsmouth Public Library’s Speculative Fiction Book Club, we will contemplate the parallels between our world and that of beloved author E.M.
