Ikebana Demonstration
Friday August 30
10 – 11:30 AM
Portsmouth Public Library Levenson Room
Fascinated by Japanese flower arranging? Come to a demonstration of Ikenobo Ikebana at the Portsmouth Public Library, by Muriel Scrivner, a Senior Professor of the Ikenobo Ikebana School. This event is presented in honor of the Kittery Point Ikenobo Chapter’s 40th Anniversary!
Ikebana is a way to express one’s feelings with each individual flower.
Many different Ikebana styles have appeared during the 550 years of Ikebana history. They each have a distinctive character and are arranged with a particular form or pattern in mind. However, awareness of natural beauty allows the arranger to gradually approach the ideal beauty which Ikebana seeks.
The Kittery Point Ikenobo Chapter is sponsoring this event and welcomes you to its celebration of this centuries-old floral art form. The Kittery Point Chapter is affiliated with the Ikenobo Headquarters in Kyoto, Japan.
This event is free and open to the public!
