Commemoration Ceremony
for the Mary Ann List Lobby

Recently, the library lost our beloved former director, Mary Ann List. On Sunday, September 30 at 1:30 PM, we will hold a brief commemoration ceremony as we name the library lobby in memory of Mary Ann. Remarks will be made by City Manager John Bohenko and Library Director Steve Butzel. Refreshments will be served and journals will be available for the public to write down memories and reflections about Mary Ann. All are welcome to come celebrate the occasion even if they aren’t able to attend the 1:30 ceremony. The library is open until 5:00 PM on Sunday!
Mary Ann List was director of the Portsmouth Public Library from 2003-2014. She passed away on July 10, 2018. The library held a service in her memory on July 25, 2018. The library owes so much to Mary Ann, and we are proud to honor her in the space that welcomes all into our building, and to carry on her legacy of compassion and dedication.
