Solitary Retreat in the New Zealand Wilderness

Artist, meditation instructor, world traveler and author Kiranada Sterling Benjamin kept a journal of her inner reflections during her year in solitary retreat. She dealt with numerous hardships and, in the end, discovered a blossoming of deep open-heartedness.

Dh. Kiranada Sterling Benjamin is an award-winning international artist, researcher, author and ordained Buddhist. She lived in Kyoto, Japan for over eighteen years, where she taught at Doshisha and Kyoto Sangyo Universities. She later taught at Massachusetts College of Art and Design in Boston. She was ordained in the Triratna Buddhist Order, has completed more than ten solitary retreats, and coordinates the Contemplative Arts at Aryaloka Buddhist Center in Newmarket, NH.
