Skywatch, Tuesday August 27

July 10, 2019

Wednesday August 21 session is cancelled due to inclement weather. Please join us on Tuesday August 27!

Skywatch
with the New Hampshire Astronomical Society
Tuesday August 27
7:30 – 10 PM
Portsmouth Public Library

This beginner-friendly astronomy experience at Portsmouth Public Library is free and open to all. A brief presentation in the library’s Levenson Room will be followed by a viewing in the field beside the library! View the moon and other planets through telescopes and binoculars provided by members of the New Hampshire Astronomical Society!

This event is drop-in. No registration necessary. Please note that visibility depends on the weather, and the library building and restrooms will close at 9 PM. A few additional rules for the Skywatch:

  • Watch your step: Be especially careful of wires on the ground.
  • No Flash Photography: The bright flash of a camera can wreck everyone's night vision.
  • Stay Warm: bring a jacket and long pants.

The New Hampshire Astronomical Society is a wholly volunteer New Hampshire chartered non-profit educational organization dedicated to furthering public awareness of Astronomy. This is accomplished via public observing sessions, demonstrations, astronomical slide shows, discussions, and talks. NHAS provides these services on request and free of charge to any organization, including schools, libraries, clubs, etc. Find out more at nhastro.com.
