City Clerk Announces Voter Registration Opportunities and Seeks Poll Workers

City Clerk Kelli Barnaby has scheduled several opportunities for residents to register to vote prior to the State Primary Election on Tuesday, September 10, 2024 and the State General/Presidential Election on November 5, 2024. 

Voter Registration events for Portsmouth residents are scheduled for the following locations and times.

Prior to the State Primary Election on Tuesday, September 10, 2024

  • Wednesday, August 28, 2024 – Portsmouth Public Library from 5:00 pm to 6:30 pm.
  • Saturday, August 31, 2024 – Portsmouth Farmers’ Market from 8:00 am to 12:00 pm.

The last day to register to vote prior to the Tuesday, September 10, 2024 State Primary Election will be Wednesday, September 4, 2024. Prospective voters can register up to 4:30 pm at the Office of the City Clerk or from 5:30 pm to 6:30 pm in the lobby of City Hall with the Board of Registrars. There can be no Party affiliation changes prior to the September 10, 2024 State Primary Election, as the deadline for changes has passed (per RSA 654:34). 

Prior to the State General/Presidential Election on Tuesday, November 5, 2024

  • Wednesday, September 25, 2024 – Portsmouth Public Library from 5:00 pm to 6:30 pm.
  • Saturday, September 28, 2024 – Portsmouth Public Library from 11:00 am to 12:30 pm.
  • Saturday, October 19, 2024 – Portsmouth Farmers’ Market from 8:00 am to 12:00 pm.

The last day to register to vote prior to the Tuesday, November 5, 2024, State General/Presidential Election will be Tuesday, October 29, 2024. Prospective voters can register up to 4:30 pm at the Office of the City Clerk or from 4:30 pm to 7:00 pm in the lobby of City Hall with the Board of Registrars. 

Applications for Absentee Ballots for the State Primary Election and State General/Presidential Election are now available from the City Clerk’s OfficeA separate application must be completed for each of the two Elections. 

The City Clerk is also seeking residents who would like to volunteer to work at the polls on either or both Election Days. Applicants should complete this form and provide it to the City Clerk via email at cityclerk@cityofportsmouth.com or in person at the Office of the City Clerk in City Hall.
