PPL Youth

Welcome to the Youth Library!

Everyone’s favorite part of the library is Youth Services. When we say the library is for everyone, we mean everyone. From delivering board books to new parents at Portsmouth Regional Hospital, to giving book talks at senior living facilities, we offer a something for every age. And Youth Services is the place to begin!

Visit our teen room, browse the picture books, peruse the Parenting section, check out a video game or a graphic novel, or sit with your little one and enjoy a board book.

Gretyl, our Supervisor of Youth Services, leads a team with encyclopedic knowledge of this collection. Together, they help guide caregivers and children through every stage of reading development and get books into the hands of kids who need them the most. We are committed to the learning, literacy and creativity of youth and teens, but adults are welcome here too – so stop by and say hi to Lucia, Mollie, Karen, Jessie, and Michelle (aka Ms. Fijalkowski!!)

Stop in on a Saturday and you might also get to meet one of our reading dogs, Chloe or Tillie.

You may also find us outside, in the activity room, on Zoom, or elsewhere running programs and book clubs for kids of all ages – including Middle School Mondays with Lucia and Jessie, Book Clubs for all ages with Mollie and Gretyl, Lego Club with Gretyl, and Laptime and Toddler Story Times with Karen!

Need to borrow a telescope, a ukulele, or an activity kit for doing yoga, learning magic tricks, or playing with Snap Circuits? These can all be picked up at the Youth Services desk!
