Portsmouth Water Division Releases Annual Drinking Water Quality Reports

Each year, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) requires community water systems to deliver a Consumer Confidence Report – also known as an Annual Drinking Water Quality Report – to their customers. These reports, which are mailed out to water customers by July 1st, provide information about their drinking water quality from the previous year of sampling including a summary of detected contaminants, compliance, and educational information.

June 2019 Water Supply Status Report

Despite the cool and wet weather pattern we have been experiencing in Southern New Hampshire, this area continues to have below normal precipitation. Precipitation since December 2018 is only 65% of normal. However, the cooler weather has resulted in lower than normal irrigation and water demands in our system.

Public tour of the Peirce Island Wastewater Treatment Facility on Thursday, June 13th

Guided public tours of the Peirce Island Wastewater Treatment Facility (WWTF) construction site will be conducted on Thursday, June 13, 2019 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. City staff, along with others involved in the construction of the Peirce Island WWTF upgrade project, will be guiding interested parties through the construction site to provide an opportunity to observe the status of the ongoing construction.

Public Works crews addressing water main break on Route 1; overnight work to occur

April 18, 2019

A water main break has occurred on Route 1 near the location of Mr. Mac’s restaurant. Public Works crews have shut off the water main while they address this issue; this affects buildings along Route 1 heading in the direction of Rye, as well as surrounding side streets with the exception of Ocean Road. Crews anticipate the water to be turned back on around noon to 1 p.m. this afternoon. Crews will be shutting the water main off again overnight from midnight to 4 a.m. to permanently fix this break.
