Portsmouth DPW Contractor Set to Begin Sagamore Avenue Sewer Extension Project on May 16, 2022

The City of Portsmouth Department of Public Works expects contractor Severino Construction to start work affecting City streets in the Sagamore Avenue Sewer Extension Project area on Monday, May 16, 2022. This project will be ongoing through December 2022. Construction will impact parts of Sagamore Avenue, Shaw Road, Cliff Road and Walker Bungalow Road, with excavation work starting on Sagamore Avenue and continuing onto the other streets as work advances.

City Mosquito Control Program Monitoring Starts April 11, 2022

The Mosquito Control Program begins monitoring on April 11, 2022 in the City of Portsmouth. Crews from Dragon Mosquito Control, Inc., the City’s contracted service, will be checking swamps, salt marshes, woodland pools, ditches, catch basins and other shallow, stagnant water for mosquito larvae.

Portsmouth DPW Snow Load-out Operations Scheduled for Tues Night February 1

City of Portsmouth Department of Public Works crews will conduct snow load out operations to clear street and improve safety following the weekend blizzard. The load-out operations start Tuesday, February 1 at 7:30 pm in Area 1, 9:30 pm in Area 2 and 12:30 am in Area 3. The work is expected to be completed by 8 am on Tuesday, February 2.

NHDES Installs Temporary Air Quality Monitoring Devices Near Railyard

The City of Portsmouth has authorized the NH Department of Environmental Services (NHDES) to place temporary air quality monitoring devices in locations surrounding the Foundry Place Garage. The air quality study was authorized by NHDES in response to City concerns regarding air quality complaints from the neighborhood and residents’ reports of emissions from locomotives in the railyard.
