Blue Ribbon Committees to Reopen Portsmouth 2021 & On Health

The City Council voted on Dec 14,2020 to continue the duties of the Citizen Response Task Force (CRTF), reconfigured as the Mayor's Blue Ribbon Task Force to Reopen Portsmouth 2021. The members of the CRTF who are health professionals will also remain, and also serve on an additional Mayor's Blue Ribbon Committee on Health instead of as the CRTF Health Subcommittee, to assist the City Health Department. The Mayor's Blue Ribbon Committee on Arts and Non-profits was created on January 11, 2021 to respond to the needs of arts and culture nonprofits during the reopening and recovery phases ahead.

Background

In May 2020, to help Portsmouth quickly and safely respond to the Governor's guidelines for reopening, Assistant Mayor Jim Splaine and Councilor Deaglan McEachern proposed the formation of the Portsmouth Citizen Response Task Force. The Citizen Task Force was selected and their first meeting was June 9, 2020. After reviewing the Task Force guidelines and a draft framework, the group selected co-chairs and formed three subcommittees: Streets, Bridge Street, Health. RESTAURANTS: OUTDOOR & INDOOR DINING INFORMATION

City Council has voted to allow outdoor dining to return March 1, 2021, weather permitting; but the expectation is for reopening outdoor dining sites on April 1, 2021. The permitting portal is expected to be ready for renewals/applications for outdoor dining by mid-February.

INDOOR DINING

For restaurants indoor dining and appropriate 6-foot physical distancing, the following process is now in place:

Table spacing (both indoors and outdoors) should be maintained so people sitting at adjacent tables are more than six feet apart and servers should be able to maintain social distancing while interacting with tables. Seating guidelines showing different table styles and arrangements are posted in the Health Department web page, here. To streamline the process, prior to re-opening, all establishments must submit a completed re-opening Checklist and adjusted seating floor plans for approval, electronically via Viewpoint.
