Holiday Lights Contest
The Citywide Neighborhood Committee’s Holiday Lights Contest has become a cherished tradition in Portsmouth as a way to give residents a reason to celebrate together this holiday season.
Every year, this contest is open to every Portsmouth resident. Members of the Citywide Neighborhood Committee and resident families conducted the judging on December 12.
The Winners and Honorable Mentions in this year's three categories are:
- Best Traditional: Brent Guillot, 32 Manning Street (Honorable Mention last year);
- Most Creative: Matt Beyer, 580 F.W. Hartford Drive (last year’s Kid’s Choice winner);
- Kids’ Choice: Craig Steigerwalt, 625 Lincoln Avenue.
Honorable Mention winners are:
- Heather Noucas, 87 Edmond Avenue;
- Ken and Amber Buttermore, 545 F.W. Hartford Drive; and
- Donna Figler, 114 Cabot Street.
The three winners will each receive a prize selected by the Mayor’s office and be recognized at the January 6, 2025 City Council meeting along with the honorable mention winners for each category. Additionally, an anonymous donor is donating $10 per entry in the contest to Gather.
In announcing the contest details, Portsmouth Citywide Neighborhood Committee co-chair Colleen Ovecka said, “The Holiday Lights Contest always brings brightness and joy to the season, creating a festive atmosphere for kids and adults alike. The Citywide Neighborhood Committee is proud and delighted to uphold this tradition, encouraging residents to spread cheer throughout Portsmouth neighborhoods with their holiday displays.”
