Portsmouth National Night Out POSTPONED to August 13, 2024

On Tuesday, August 13, 2024, neighborhoods throughout Portsmouth will join forces with thousands of communities nationwide for the 41st Annual National Night Out Against Crime. 

National Night Out (NNO), which is sponsored by the National Association of Town Watch (NATW), will involve over 17,000 communities from all 50 states, U.S. territories, Canadian cities and military bases around the world. In all, over 38 million people are expected to participate in “America’s National Night Out Against Crime.” 

In Portsmouth, NNO is spearheaded by the Portsmouth Citywide Neighborhood Committee, which is co-chaired by Colleen Ovecka and Peter Somssich. 

CNC members Colleen Ovecka and Christian Berling are coordinating this event with active participation and strong support from the Portsmouth Fire Department, Portsmouth Police Department and the Department of Public Works.

From 5 pm to 7 pm on Tuesday, August 13, 2024, residents in neighborhoods throughout Portsmouth will spend the evening outside with neighbors as well as Police, Fire, Public Works Department staff, and City and elected officials. 

Fifteen participating neighborhoods throughout Portsmouth will host a variety of special events such as block parties, cookouts, parades, contests, youth activities and games at the following locations:    

  • Atlantic Heights (Big Rock Park) 
  • Elwyn Park (at Adams Street)
  • The Cedars (White Cedar Blvd. behind the Cedars clubhouse)
  • Gosling Meadows (at the recreation center)
  • Spinnaker Point (70 Spinnaker way; outdoor pool)
  • Wamesit Place (at Holiday Drive)
  • WAHOO (Wibird Street between Lincoln and Hawthorne Streets)
  • Friends of the South End (at Four Tree Island)
  • Pannaway Manor (at Pannaway Playground; Schumann Ave)
  • Creek Neighborhood (at Pine Street Park)
  • Islington Creek (at Rock Street Park)
  • Bersum Gardens (332 Leslie Drive)
  • Maple Haven (Maple Haven Park)
  • West End – Lafayette (Circle on Sewall Rd) 
  • Woodlawn Cir, Echo Ave, Hillcrest Dr (197 Woodlawn Circle)
