Portsmouth Energy Advisory Committee Announces Schedule for August Rate-setting for Portsmouth Community Power
June 23, 2023As the new rate period for Fall 2023 approaches, the Portsmouth Energy Advisory Committee has received the following rate-setting schedule from the Community Power Coalition of NH (CPCNH) which is the agent for Portsmouth Community Power (PCP). The new rates will be in effect from August 1, 2023, to January 31, 2024.

June 22, 2023The HMS Scott, a unique British Naval survey vessel, arrived in Portsmouth at the State Pier on Friday, June 2 and stayed until Friday, June 8. While here, sailors participated in the Portsmouth NH 400 Grand Parade, a friendly football (soccer) match with the crew of the USS Cheyenne, and many other activities!

Cruelty to Animals Arrest
June 12, 2023On June 11, 2023, the Portsmouth Police Department responded to the parking lot of 100 Durgin Lane for a report of an unresponsive dog in a vehicle. On scene investigation discovered the owner of the vehicle had left a dog, which was a Terrier mix, in a vehicle with the windows up for several hours. Upon the arrival of officers, the dog was found to be deceased. The outside temperature was in the mid 70’s with the internal temperature of the vehicle recorded at 125 degrees.
City of Portsmouth Receives 11th Consecutive AAA Rating from Standard & Poor’s, Conducts Bond Sales
June 10, 2023The City of Portsmouth has received its eleventh consecutive affirmation from Standard and Poor's (S&P) Global Rating of the City’s AAA rating which measures the City’s ability to manage its credit. S&P cited its “very strong management with strong financial policies and practices.”
City Adopts FY24 Budget
June 9, 2023The City Council unanimously approved the FY24 budget submitted by City Manager Karen Conard. This budget, totaling $137,283,375, includes adjustments to compensate for the loss of nearly $4 million in one-time State and Federal funding received in FY23 and results in an increase of just 3.67%, which is below the directive of 4.5% provided by the City Council and well below the current rate of inflation.
