May 12, 2022The City of Portsmouth Department of Public Works expects contractor Severino Construction to start work affecting City streets in the Sagamore Avenue Sewer Extension Project area on Monday, May 16, 2022. This project will be ongoing through December 2022. Construction will impact parts of Sagamore Avenue, Shaw Road, Cliff Road and Walker Bungalow Road, with excavation work starting on Sagamore Avenue and continuing onto the other streets as work advances.

May 3, 2022The City of Portsmouth Cemetery Committee is organizing a headstone-cleaning project in the historic North Cemetery on Maplewood Avenue on Saturday, May 7, 2022. Volunteers are invited to register to join the Committee between 9 am and noon to learn how preservationists clean and preserve historic grave markers.

April 30, 2022National Prescription Drug Take Back Day
April 29, 2022The Portsmouth Police Department will be joining the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) and other seacoast communities on the National Prescription Drug Take Back Day, this Saturday, April 30th, 2022 at the Portsmouth Police Department 10:00 am to 2:00 pm. The event is being offered to the community to provide an opportunity to turn in prescription drugs which may be in your household and are no longer needed. The department will take pills, patches and liquid medicine. No needles or sharp items will be accepted. The service is free of charge and anonymous.
