​​City Resumes Walk-In Services at City Hall for Most Departments Starting May 24

Appointments Still Required for Planning, Inspections and Assessing Departments

As the NH Department of Health and Human Services continues to report declines in cases, hospitalizations and positivity rates of COVID-19, and as more of the local population becomes fully vaccinated, the City Manager and City Health Officer have determined that City Hall walk-in services can be made available again. Appointments will no longer be required, as of Monday, May 24.

Portsmouth DPW Hosts Household Hazardous Waste Collection Day May 22

The Portsmouth Department of Public Works will hold its biannual Household Hazardous Waste Collection Day on Saturday, May 22, 2021, at the Public Works facility at 680 Peverly Hill Road. Residents of Portsmouth, Greenland and Newington are encouraged to bring household chemicals for safe disposal between 8 am and 12 noon. Proof of residency is required.

Water use restrictions are currently not in effect. Management of our water system has helped reduce water loss due to leaks and increase groundwater levels through the efficient use of our surface water supply.

On Tuesday, May 18th at 6:30 p.m. join Portsmouth Public Library for the City’s premiere viewing of a 16-minute audio-visual tour of Portsmouth during the 1950s! Portsmouth as we know it today came into being during the Cold War, a forty-year period of international tension and threat of nuclear war.
