Patrol
The Patrol Division’s focus is on prevention and enforcement. Patrol provides emergency response and police assistance 7 days a week, 24 hours a day. Through directed patrols and crime suppression activities, patrol officers maintain law and order. Through community-oriented policing, they provide a safe and more secure environment in which to live, work, and play.
Patrol officers initiate citizen contacts, respond to calls for service, make arrests, and issue traffic citations and warnings, including “Hands Free” enforcement. They often work as ‘ambassadors’ to the City in the downtown area where a high police presence exists particularly during the summer months. They patrol 4 geographical beats within the city via motorcycle patrol, mountain bike patrol, and marked and unmarked police vehicles.
