Personnel & Training (P&T) is responsible for the recruitment and hiring of new Police Officers, Public Safety Dispatchers and civilian positions. New Police Officers undergo an intensive 3-week in house training before attending the NH Police Academy.
P&T is also responsible for planning, organizing, and implementing various in-service training for police officers. The Portsmouth Police Department traditionally has been a training hub for the Seacoast. We continue to partner with numerous outside organizations to provide world class instruction to certified officers from any outside department.
