Crime Scene Team
Crime Scene Teams play an essential role in bridging law enforcement and forensic science. Their meticulous work ensures that evidence is properly documented and preserved, forming a foundation for investigative success and judicial outcomes.
The Portsmouth Police Department Crime Scene Team consists of trained patrol officers and detectives who are skilled in collecting, preserving and processing any types of evidence from various crime scenes. Team members are also responsible for completing all relation documentation and testifying about their involvement in investigations.
The team includes a cross-section of patrol officers, detectives, and ranking officers from both divisions, operating under the oversight of the Investigative Division. Vacancies are filled through an oral board selection process, and candidates must have a minimum of two years of law enforcement experience.
